Mr. Michael A. Grandin, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Grandin is currently the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Fording Canadian Coal Trust. From October 2001 to April 2002, Mr. Grandin was President of PanCanadian Energy Corporation. From 1998 to 2001, Mr. Grandin was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Canadian Pacific Limited. He was Vice Chairman and a director of Midland Walwyn Capital Inc. from 1996 to 1998. He is a director of EnCana Corporation, which was formed through the merger of PanCanadian Energy Corporation and Alberta Energy Company Ltd. in 2002. Mr. Grandin is also a director of IPSCO Inc., BNS Split Corp., and the Investment Dealers Association of Canada.

Mr. Boyd Payne, President

Mr. Payne was appointed President, Fording Canadian Coal Trust in January 2007. He also is President and Chief Executive Officer of Elk Valley Coal Partnership.

Prior to his appointments to the Trust and Elk Valley Coal, Mr. Payne was Vice President, Marketing for BHP Billiton in Singapore. From 1996 to 2001, Mr. Payne was Vice President of Marketing for Fording Coal Limited, whose metallurgical coal operations were acquired by Elk Valley Coal in 2003. He also held several senior positions with Line Creek Resources Ltd. from 1991 to 1996, Manalta Coal Ltd. from 1989 to 1991, and was General Manager of Gregg River Resources Ltd. prior to 1989.

Mr. Payne holds a bachelor of science degree in chemistry from the University of Victoria. He also completed the Banff School of Advanced Management program and the executive financial program at the Singapore campus of INSEAD.

Mr. R.J. (Jim) Brown, Vice President

Mr. Brown, C.A. is Vice President of the Fording Canadian Coal Trust and Elk Valley Coal Partnership. Previous to that, Mr. Brown held the position of Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, a position he was appointed to in October 2005. He has 28 years' experience in the oil and gas industry, the past ten years as Chief Financial Officer with High Point Resources Inc., Dorset Exploration Ltd., Richland Petroleum Inc. and Terraquest Energy Inc. Mr. Brown is a director of Culane Energy Inc., E4 Energy Ltd., Calgary Handi-Bus Association and the Heritage Park Society, and is a past director of Rio Alto Resources International Inc. and Terraquest Energy Inc. He is a member of Financial Executives International Canada, and has served as President of both the Calgary and Regina chapters.

Mr. Brown holds a bachelor of commerce degree from the University of Calgary and is a Chartered Accountant.

Mr. Mark D. Gow, Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Gow, C.A. is Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Fording Canadian Coal Trust and Elk Valley Coal, a position he was appointed to in April 2008. Previous to that, Mr. Gow held the position of Vice President, Finance for Fording Canadian Coal Trust and Elk Valley Coal Partnership. Prior to this appointment, Mark held the position of Controller for both the Trust and Elk Valley Coal. Mark also held the position of Director, Investor Relations of the Trust. He is a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Alberta Institute of Chartered Accountants and Financial Executives International Canada.

Mr. Gow graduated from the University of Calgary with a bachelor of commerce degree.

Mr. Jim F. Jones, Secretary

Mr. Jones is Secretary to the Fording Canadian Coal Trust, and Vice President, Employee Relations for Elk Valley Coal. Prior to the formation of the Fording Trust, Mr. Jones was Corporate Secretary of the predecessor corporation from 2001 to 2003. Prior to assuming that position, he was Manager, Employee Relations and Regulatory Affairs of Fording from 1993 to 2001. Mr. Jones is a member of the Law Society of British Columbia and the Canadian Bar Association. He is also a Director of the Calgary Society of Christian Education.

Mr. Jones is a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan and has a law degree from the University of Victoria.

Mr. Paul Clements, Controller

Mr. Clements, C.A., is currently Controller of Fording Canadian Coal Trust and Elk Valley Coal. Mr. Clements joined Elk Valley Coal as Director of Financial Reporting in October 2006. From 2004 to 2005, he was with Hitachi Data Systems Corporation in San Jose, California, where he held the position of Corporate Controller. Mr. Clements was previously with BEA Systems, Inc. and Ernst & Young LLP. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nova Scotia and Financial Executives International Canada.

Mr. Clements holds a bachelor of commerce degree from Dalhousie University and is a Chartered Accountant.
